Reviews:
This stopgap release, mostly comprising
remixes of this German's groups elegant, laptop-crafted R&B disc
Neon Golden, will let you know whether or not you dig screwing with near-perfection. The song "Neon Golden," for example, originally a neat slice of folkadelica and criss-crossing electrobump, is recast here, via Console's remix, along minimalist Krautrock lines. (Console, AKA Martin Gretschmann, became a Notwist member in the late '90s.) Likewise, the shimmering, at times junglish Four Tet-Manitoba reworking of "This Room" comes off as more traditionally Teutonic-icy, even-than its quirky-but-soulful elder. The Notwist: as
motorik as they wanna be?
Ja, ja, ja-or perhaps more accurately,
da, da, da.
