To create Owl City's third release on Universal Republic, Adam Young sought out co-writers and outside producers for the first time. Young's willingness to collaborate on THE MIDSUMMER STATION opened new sonic avenues. The album retains Young's synth-driven melodic pop sensibility but majorly ups the rhythmic ante. The song "Dementia" features guest vocals by one of Young's heroes, Blink-182's Mark Hoppus. On the album's first single, the incredibly infectious pop gem "Good Time," Young also is joined in a duet by Carly Rae Jepsen.
