Rage, confusion, despair, self-deception, and introspection—Madi Diaz cycles through the full spectrum of emotions on History Of A Feeling, her debut on ANTI-. It’s an album that undeniably marks Diaz’s status as a first-rate songwriter, a craft she’s spent years refining, and one wherein Diaz establishes herself as an artist capable of distilling profound feelings with ease.
Diaz pulls from a range of folk, country, and pop leanings—she is as much influ- enced by Patty Griffin and Lori McKenna as she is the sonics of PJ Harvey and di- rectness of Kathleen Hanna. On History Of A Feeling, the Nashville based songwriter comes to terms with the dissolution of a meaningful relationship. By the end of it, she wills herself into a self-reflective state where she doesn’t hate herself for being so heartbroken.
The songs on History Of A Feeling, are the most direct and introspective songs Diaz has ever written. In the few times she’s gotten to perform them live in front of an audience, Diaz describes the experience as one where she feels acutely present even though she’s singing about emotions that started to take root years ago. It’s relatable to anyone who has experienced heartbreak and great change in some manner, and this profound sense of intimacy and camaraderie she seamlessly weaves into the songs was important to her. “I wanted it to sound conversational, like I had just walked over to your house and we’re sitting and at the end of your driveway talking—just like we’re hashing it out in the same way that you’d call a best friend at one in the morning because you needed to talk about what just happened.”
The Beach Boys ‘Feel Flows’ collection is based on the landmark 1970/1971 albums ‘Sunflower’ and ‘Surf’s Up’. This 4LP features remastered versions of the original albums and has 64 tracks including 44 previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions, alternate mixes and vocals. Available on black vinyl.

Formed in 1992, Boris boldly explores their own vision of heavy music, where words like "explosive" and "thunderous" barely do justice. Using overpowering soundscapes embellished with copious amounts of lighting and billow smoke, Boris has shared with audiences across the planet an experience for all five senses in their concerts, earning legions of zealous fans along the way. Furiously recorded in the early days of the covid-19 pandemic and surprise-released in July 2020, NO was met with immediate and widespread praise. Meant to serve as a mirror that redirects the negativity of the global lockdown to something more positive, the content on NO can be characterized as “extreme healing music”. Musically, it draws from influential noise-heavy hardcore group Gudon, even including a cover of their song “Fundamental Error”. NO is a classic hardcore thrash record and is one of the band’s strongest efforts from start to finish. This will also serve as the release of NO on streaming services worldwide. "Their most compelling album in more than a decade." - Pitchfork
This is the first-ever and particularly-anticipated official vinyl release of Boris's essential 2000 album, Flood. The album was originally released in Japan, only on CD. Delivered in four equally important movements, Flood is simultaneously delicate, dense, undulating, devastating, emancipating, hypnotic and triumphant. Each season of the album has its own sense of place, best revealed listen-by-listen. With the album, Boris broaden their vision of musical possibility, with a notable and imaginative influence from visionary American minimalist Steve Reich, weaving in prog, drone and slowcore into a multifaceted symphony. There simply has never been another piece of music like Flood.
LA-based rockers The Bronx return for their sixth studio album 'Bronx VI’, produced by Joe Baressi (Tool, Bad Religion, Melvins). The album, which builds on the legacy the band has established in its near two-decade existence, but which definitely proves the door to what’s next has not just been kicked down, but chopped up and burned to a cinder. Yes, the first four tracks – “White Shadow”, “Superbloom”, “Watering The Well” and “Curb Feelers” – bristles with the wild and untamed energy that’s defined the band from the off, but then – all of a sudden, as “Peace Pipe” kicks in – the pace and mood shifts to something a little less aggressive. Elsewhere, “Mexican Summer” and its (relatively) chilled-out mariachi vibes serve as an homage to the band’s alter-ego, Mariachi El Bronx (and was written while that incarnation of the band was on tour), while fatalistic closer “Participation Trophy” masks the Caughthran’s existential dread behind searing riffs and a catchy, defiant and exuberant melody.
Masego – hailed as “one of music’s most promising chameleons” by NPR Music – kicks off the Capitol Cuts series with live performances captured at the historic Capitol Records Studio A – including a performance of “Silver Tongue Devil,” a track from his acclaimed new EP, Studying Abroad; some deeper catalog cuts; and a cover of Brasstracks’ “Golden Ticket,” a song on which he was featured on the original recording.
Donna says, “I got to a point in writing the album that I had said everything I wanted to say about someone else fucking up. I wanted to talk about the role I played in letting something consume me and burn me down. In ‘Let You Let Me Down,’ I'm addressing that I need to change too, so I don't rebuild myself the same way but come back from it stronger and better.” Capitol Cuts – Live From Studio A features artists’ one-take performances, recorded direct to vinyl at Capitol Studios in Hollywood.
Kerber is a new chapter in Yann Tiersen's career - if Portrait was revisiting & reassessing the past, Kerber draws a line under that and looks to the future. Both a follow up to EUSA and an album unlike any Yann has made before. Kerber takes its name from a Chapel in a small village on Ouessant. Influenced by the close geographical area around him, each track is tied to a place, mapping out the direct landscape around Yann’s home. Rather than being a reflection on isolation, the record is an expression of being conscious of your own direct environment and your place within it. The album takes the solo piano themes from EUSA and marries them with electronics. The electronic samples are enhanced by the acoustic elements - it’s the reverse process to what Yann has done before. This is a piano-centred electronic album.
"Everything from the stage to the sound to the visuals were killer… a beautiful two-hour venture. TesseracT should be very proud of themselves for delivering such an immense quality of work for their fans during these unfortunate times” - Metal Insider
Following on from 2018’s critically acclaimed studio album, Sonder, the band, in the midst of a global pandemic decided to come together to present P O R T A L S – a cinematic live experience like no other. The band took livestreams to a new level by interspersing a conceptual storyline with their live performances that featured an arena-style light show.
TesseracT are a band that sit outside the bounds of any genre specificity, pioneers of the ever-evolving rock and metal scene, with an unstoppable force of off-kilter riffs, soaring melodies and disorientating atmospherics. They put all of this into the December 2020 event that featured the band performing songs spanning their entire catalog. Highlights included “Nocturne" off their 2010 debut EP, Concealing Fate and continued with “Eden” (One, 2011), "Of Matter” (Altered State, 2013), “Tourniquet” (Polaris, 2015), and “King” (Sonder, 2018), with the whole performance capturing 14 songs over 2+ hours.
Bass player Amos Williams explains more about the event and the concept behind it: “P O R T A L S is a celebration of our love of performing. Each act is a still from an ever-evolving musical personality. Each song is the conversations you have with old friends when you meet up for the first time in ages and you pick up exactly where you left off.”
Now, Kscope are proud to present this unique event to a wider audience for the first time. The film and soundtrack will be issued on an array of formats including Blu-Ray, Triple LP soundtrack and Deluxe Book Edition.
Along with the release of the livestream event, the band will be playing their first live shows in almost two years this November and December supporting Trivium in the UK and Europe, as well as returning to North American shores in 2022.
“The quality of the audio and visuals provide testament to TesseracT’s statement that the performance represents their biggest production to date" – Prog/ Louder Sound
Spice Girls Wannabe 25 [Picture Disc Single] - To mark the 25th anniversary of the Spice Girls debut single "Wannabe," UMe / Virgin are releasing a new four-song EP on 12? picture disc vinyl.
Alongside the original single and an in-demand remix by Junior Vasquez (originally a bonus track on the 1996 "2 Become 1" CD Single) is the original demo recording, and "Feed Your Love", a ballad written by Spice Girls and "Wannabe" co-writers Richard `Biff' Stannard and Matt Rowe, recorded for the album Spice but previously unreleased.
The Sandmine EP harnesses the signature sound of the band's biggest albums. Drummer Jeremiah "Trauma" Stratton laid down his drums with an emphasis on complimenting the deep metallic grooves, while frontman Jared Gomes, recorded vocals that draw inspiration from the raw aggression of Rage Against the Machine and the unfiltered fury of Ice T's, Body Count.
Ephat Mujuru exemplifies a unique generation of traditional musicians inZimbabwe. Born under an oppressive colonial regime in Southern Rhodesia, his generation witnessed the brutality of the 1970s liberation struggle, and then the dawn of independent Zimbabwe, a time in which African music culture—long stigmatized by Rhodesian educators and religious authorities—experienced a thrilling renaissance.
Under the tutelage of his grandfather, who was a respected spirit medium and mbira master, Ephat showed an early talent for the rigors of mbira training, playing his first possession ceremony when he was just ten years old.
By then, guerilla war was engulfing the country and his grandfather Muchatera tragically became a victim of the violence, a devastating blow to the young musician. In the midst of the liberation struggle, mbira music became political.
Eventually, the Rhodesians were defeated, but rather than return to the past, the nation of Zimbabwe was born and a new future unfolded. Ephat threw himself into the spirit of independence, singing of brotherhood, healing, and unity: crucial themes during a time when the nation’s two dominant ethnic groups, the Shona and the Ndebele, were struggling to reconcile differences.
Ephat’s band would eventually follow the popular trend and add electric instruments. But before that, he and Spirit of the People released two all-acoustic albums, and they may well be the most exciting and beautiful recordings he made in his career. Mbavaira, the second of these albums, was released in 1983.
As the independence years moved on, there would be fewer and fewer commercial mbira releases. But for the moment, Ephat had the required stature and reputation. Also, with the energy and drive we hear in these recordings, and the unmistakable lead vocals by his Uncle Mude—truly one of the greatest mbira singers of the 20th century—the album could easily rival the pop music of its day.
Within a few years after the release of Mbavaira, it and albums like it became harder to find in Zimbabwean record stores. Ephat adapted to the times and formed an electric band. Hey recorded more albums over the years but none of them have the particularly delicious energy of Spirit of thePeople in the first years of Zimbabwe’s independence.
Runnner’s Always Repeating yearns for a sense of place. The project of the now LA-based songwriter/multi-
The 10-track collection is composed of five re-recorded versions of songs that appeared on Runnner’s 2017 debut, Awash, and 2020’s One of One EP. Although the songs were written over the course of three years, all find Weinman grappling with the same thing: feelings of uncertainty about his life. Always Repeating ultimately tells the start of Weinman’s journey as Runnner, and his cyclical feelings of being connected and then disconnected from the world over and over again.

Nightmare Vacation - the official debut album from Punk rap rage queen and trendsetter, Rico Nasty, is available now. As written by Pitchfork, “Nightmare Vacation bursts with potential, and while not all of it is realized, the moments that click signal that Rico is an artist with a strong gut, confidently expanding the boundaries of her craft…Where her previous project “Nasty” brought Rico’s hard edges into sharper focus, “Nightmare Vacation” reshapes them, experimenting with cadence and tone in playful and exciting ways. Rico has mastered aggression but shirks formulas and predictability, stretching out the spectrum of anger and blending it with humor, bravado, and brattiness.” This album features the fan favorite anthem and RIAA Certified Gold single “Smack A Bitch”.

In the fateful year of 2020, Vincent John and Maxwell Perla of Eraserhood Sound were fortunate enough to stumble upon the score to the long lost, never completed 1974 Italian thriller/romance film Riblle Di Mare. It was not long before they realized they had discovered an opus, written by legendary film composer Sandro Galileo, in what was to be his final soundtrack. Only it never came to pass. The film was abandoned before it could be completed, and the ashes of Galileo’s final work were swept aside and forgotten. Until today. Eraserhood Sound is proud to present Ribelle Di Mare in all its glory, produced and performed by house band Fantasy 15 in their signature “Synth & Soul” sound. Currently, there is a bleak outlook on global ecology. With glaciers melting at an alarming rate and wildfires decimating over 6 million acres of forest each year, it is clear; we as a species are running out of time to rectify our planet's destructive direction. Italian ambient duo ILUITEQ has composed their second album, aptly titled The Loss of Wilderness, echoing our current ecological situation's sentiment. By way of meticulously crafted subterranean ambient utilizing guitars, piano, and a myriad of synthesis techniques, the duo of Sergio Calzoni and Andrea Bellucci create arcadian movements in memory of landscapes destroyed by humanity's negligence. A strong yet bucolic statement from one of the newest additions to the n5MD roster.
Sacramento songwriter Tré Burt’s sophomore album, You, Yeah, You, is a narrated collection of songs featuring a cast of invented characters; heroes, villains, those destitute of salvation and those seeking it. This is Burt’s second release on Oh Boy Records, the label founded by the late John Prine who signed the songwriter in the fall of 2019. On You, Yeah, You, Burt teamed up with Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Waxahatchee, Nathaniel Rateliff) to create the album that reads like twelve rounds in a ring, summoning the will to fight the unknown rather than surrender to fear and fatigue. You, Yeah, You is a cohesive body of work that clearly illustrates the ever expanding space in which Tré Burt’s voice belongs.

Abounding with musical creativity, confident songcraft, and deeply felt emotion, BE THE LOVE YOU WANT marks the GRAMMY-nominated SOUTHERN AVENUE's most ingenious and personal effort thus far, marrying soul power and jam band liberation, gospel blues and righteous R&B, to craft their own timeless brand of American music.
BE THE LOVE YOU WANT, produced by multi-GRAMMY winner Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, Deer Tick, Jackie Greene) and co-Produced by Ori Naftaly, showcases an exhilarating, and deeply emotional collection of songs that captures all of the shared experiences that bring us together-joy and sorrow, unity and separation, love and hate. The Memphis, TN-based band's third studio recording sees SOUTHERN AVENUE pushing themselves towards bold new ideas of what it means to be a blues band in the modern world, bending and reshaping their musical heritage with electrifying performance, vivid production, and a remarkably clear vision. Operating from their distinctively international vantage point, SOUTHERN AVENUE has produced a wide-ranging collection of original music-predominantly co-written by Israeli-born guitarist Ori Naftaly and powerhouse lead vocalist Tierinii Jackson-that links them to their home city's glorious past while at the same time, demonstrates their ambitious intent to evolve Memphis music to contemporary effect. With BE THE LOVE YOU WANT, SOUTHERN AVENUE continue driving the Southern soul legacy into the 21st century, preserving its glory and tradition while striving towards something diverse, universal and altogether their own
